West Ham United could get one of their prime midfield targets at a bargain price from Real Madrid.
Reports in the likes of The Daily Star claim West Ham are targeting one of Spain’s top emerging talents Dani Ceballos.
Working alongside director of football Mario Husillos, West Ham boss Manuel Pellegrini has his eye on young talented players he can build a team around.
Pellegrini could get Dani boy for a song
Signing two strikers, two midfielders and a defender are reportedly West Ham’s priorities for the rest of the window.
And they could snare Real outcast Ceballos for a relative bargain.
That’s after a new report from Marca revealed the huge pressure on Real Madrid to sell as many as 10 players this summer.
Marca claims Madrid simply have to take as much as they can get for players deemed surplus to requirements.
It comes after their summer splurge hit the £300million mark just weeks into the transfer window.
Marca claims Real face huge financial pressure
Keylor Navas is set to be sold to Paris Saint-Germain and Nacho Fernandez could be off to Inter.
And Marca states that Gareth Bale, Marcos Llorente and West Ham target Ceballos are three players who Real desperately want off the books.
The all-action midfielder was signed for £15million by Real Madrid from Real Betis in 2017.
It says a lot about how highly Real rated the 22-year-old that they handed him a six-year deal.
West Ham must act quickly
But Zinedine Zidane is reportedly willing to sell Ceballos as he rebuilds his squad.
Ceballos has shone for Spain since making his debut in a 6-0 UEFA Nations League win over Croatia.
The financial pressures on Real could play right into Pellegrini’s hands.
But West Ham must act quickly as the potential for a bargain may well alert a host of other clubs to Ceballos’s availability.
