Possession

In terms of ball possession we had the better of the reigning champions of England yesterday afternoon. They do say in some matches possession doesn’t mean a thing and that was certainly the case in yesterdays 2-3 defeat to the Foxes.

Shots on/off target

Yesterdays 5 goal thriller certainly wasn’t without its fair share of goal mouth action. We had 13 efforts with 7 of them on target whereas Leicester managed just 6 shots with 5 of them directly at goal. It is clear to see from attempts that the Foxes were far more clinical than us and this isn’t hard to believe considering the sheer amount of chances that went by the wayside for us.

Corners/crosses

One major issue for us game after game is the quality of ball that we manage to put in from the flanks. We had 6 corners and 34 crosses to the Champions’ 5 corners and 11 crosses. One major strength of our team is having arguably the best attacking header of the ball in the League; however it seems we are not playing to our strengths. We managed to execute set pieces well yesterday with 2 goals directly from them but it seemed every time we got in on the wings the end product was unimpressive , we must improve when it comes to this area.

Clearances

The Foxes came to us yesterday without their captain Wes Morgan but this did not mar in any way their resolute defensive performance yesterday. Leicester managed 28 clearances to our 22 and this may not seem much but it was the difference between where the 3 points went. Our defensive display was much scrutinized yet again yesterday as it was cut open time and time again with silky football from the Foxes attack.
