West Ham United star Felipe Anderson saw his dreams dashed last month.

Anderson had spoken of his yearning desire to play for Brazil in their forthcoming home Copa America.

Despite 10 goals and nearly as many assists in what is billed the world’s best and toughest league, there was no place for the West Ham star in coach Tite’s squad.

Liverpool stars Alisson and Roberto Firmino were joined by Manchester City’s Ederson, Fernandinho and Gabriel Jesus with Everton’s Richarlison also making the cut.

Brazil snub wrecked Anderson dreams

But Anderson was nowhere to be seen despite earning a recall to the Selecao in the last international break for the first time in seven years.

The 26-year-old spoke recently about how he dreamed of playing for his country in the home Copa America (whufc.com) which kicks off next week.

Anderson was back in Brazil this week but not because of a surprise late call-up.

West Ham star drowns sorrows at former club

Instead he has been drowning his sorrows by returning to his old club Santos.

Posting on Twitter, Anderson and Santos showed much love for one another as the West Ham star paid his former club a special visit.

He met the players and staff at the training ground, attended a game, was given a shirt and did a live chat on Santos TV.

“Felipe Anderson visited THE CT Rei Pele, killed the longing of his heart team, reviewed with the friends who left here and still participated in a live chat on SANTOS TV. Thanks for the visit, Felipe. Always come back and good luck next season,” Santos posted on Twitter alongside a number of pictures.

Home is where the heart is

Anderson himself posted a selfie at a game, saying: “Killing the longing of the most famous village in the world.”

West Ham fans will be disappointed for several reasons.

Firstly for the club’s status having players playing for the likes of Brazil.

And secondly for Anderson’s personal ambitions that he will not participate in the Copa.

As a result, though, he will at least be fully rested ahead of his second season in English football.
