West Ham have been linked with plenty of players already, in spite of the ongoing pandemic. And four of them have been Liverpool players.

TEAMtalk claimed two days ago that the Hammers want Reds centre-back Dejan Lovren.

Meanwhile, the Telegraph claims that West Ham want Adam Lallana, whilst the Guardian have reported that Nathaniel Clyne is a target for the east London outfit.

And finally, Turkish publication Fanatik claims that the Hammers want Liverpool stopper Loris Karius.

The idea of signing four Liverpool players might seem like an intriguing prospect for West Ham fans.

But we shouldn’t get too excited.

Two of the four players should be available on free transfers in the summer – Lallana and Clyne. And the fact that the Reds have not yet moved to extend their current deals says all you need to know about their declining abilities.

Karius, meanwhile would be an absolutely horrendous addition for the Hammers. Even if he could be snapped up for the reported fee of just £4.5 million (Voetbal 24).

And finally, there’s Lovren. It could be argued that the Croatian would actually be the only decent addition out of the four Reds players who’ve been linked with West Ham.

The Hammers can do much better

David Moyes recently suggested that he plans to bring young and hungry players to the London Stadium in the future.

So, considering that the average age of the four Liverpool players West Ham allegedly want is 28.75, the links don’t seem to make much sense.

The east London outfit would be far better off trying to sign young players with a lot to prove in the game. Names such as Eberechi Eze and Ollie Watkins should be right at the top of Moyes’s priority list.

If the Hammers stay up this season, the next transfer window will be vital for them.

West Ham cannot afford to make the same old mistakes with player recruitment.

And avoiding a move for all four Liverpool players linked with the London Stadium would be a good place to start.
