Some West Ham United fans have savaged Jack Wilshere after comments he made about a return to Arsenal.

Earlier this month Wilshere said he has unfinished business at West Ham, claiming that he doesn’t want the club’s fans to remember him as a ‘waste of time’, as quoted by the Daily Mail.

The 28-year-old joined West Ham on a free transfer in the summer of 2018. He was handed a three-year deal worth £100,000 per week (Spotrac).

The move to his boyhood club has been a disastrous one thus far, though.

Wilshere’s move to boyhood club has been a disaster

Wilshere has made just 16 appearances for the Hammers in 20 months, racking up just one goal and one assist in the process (Transfermarkt).

And he has made just eight appearances for the east London outfit this season.

The former Arsenal man has another year on his West Ham contract.

But in a two-part interview with Arsenal’s official website from lockdown this week (Part 1 and Part 2), Wilshere gushed about his love for Arsenal.

The midfielder said he regrets leaving the Gunners. And he revealed he sees himself as an ‘Arsenal man’ with a desire to return to the club as a coach one day.

Those comments did not go down well with some Hammers fans on Twitter.

And many West Ham fans did not hold back with their responses.

But the view from Arsenal fans was quite the opposite.

Many Gunners supporters still idolise the playmaker and said they want him back as a player let alone coach.

Here are a selection of comments from West Ham and Arsenal fans on Twitter.
