Claret and Hugh claimed yesterday that West Ham could be willing to sell Declan Rice for £80 million in the summer, and some Hammers fans have taken to Twitter in reaction to the speculation.
The 21-year-old is undoubtedly one of West Ham’s most important players. The England international is a leading contender for the Hammer of the Year award. And he has been arguably the club’s best and most consistent performer since the start of the 2018/19 campaign.
The prospect of losing Rice doesn’t bear thinking about for West Ham fans. But it seems as though that could be a very real prospect next summer.
Sky Sports reported earlier this week that Chelsea are keen to sign the Hammers ace.
And Claret and Hugh claims that West Ham could be willing to sell the 21-year-old, but for no less than £80 million.
Rice has made 100 appearances for the Hammers, racking up two goals and three assists in the process (Transfermarkt).
In 90 Premier League appearances for West Ham, the seven-capped England international has racked up 221 tackles, 140 interceptions, 165 clearances and 610 ball recoveries (premierleague.com).
He has won 57% of his individual duals and 54% of his aerial battles (premierleague.com).
Rice would be a massive loss for the Hammers. Even if they received £80 million for his services.
And some West Ham fans took to Twitter in reaction to the report…

Fed up with Declan rumours, he loves our club and we are suppose to be building for the next level. That level doesn’t get any better than him. Build a team around him that can compete at the highest level!
