According to a report from the Mirror, West Ham could make a move for Rafa Benitez, if they part ways with Manuel Pellegrini, and some Hammers fans took to Twitter in reaction to the speculation.

The Spaniard is currently in charge of Dalian Yifang in China. And he earns a whopping £12 million per year according to the Mirror.

The 59-year-old has forged a great reputation in the game as a master tactician.

And West Ham could surely do a lot worse than Benitez if they do sack Pellegrini.

He worked wonders at Newcastle on a tiny budget, went close to winning the league with Liverpool, won La Liga with Valencia and guided Chelsea to the Europa League trophy.

Is he the man to take the Hammers to the next level, however?

That is very much up for debate. It could be argued that West Ham need a young coach with fresh ideas and philosophies if they are to make real progress.

And it seems the London Stadium faithful aren’t fully on board with the idea of Benitez taking over from Pellegrini.
