According to a report from Spanish publication AS, West Ham goalkeeper Roberto is closing in on a loan switch to La Liga side Alaves, and some Hammers fans took to Twitter in reaction to the news.

The 33-year-old joined the east London outfit on a free transfer in the summer of 2019, and he has proven to be a catastrophic signing for the club.

Roberto has played 10 games for West Ham, conceding 21 goals and keeping just one clean sheet in the process.

The Spaniard single-handedly contributed to the Hammers’ free fall down the Premier League table.

It is clear that Roberto should never have been signed, and he is undoubtedly not good enough for the Premier League.

And some West Ham fans took to Twitter in reaction to the news that the 33-year-old could be on his way to Alaves…

ExWHUemployee has since taken to Twitter, suggesting that the Hammers’ ultimate aim is to sell Roberto permanently in the summer, providing that he impresses during his loan spell in Spain:

And if West Ham do manage to move Roberto on permanently in the summer, it will be nothing short of a miracle.

Hopefully he will defy the odds and impress with Alaves between now and the end of the season.

Hammers fans won’t be holding their breaths, however.
