According to respected Italian journalist Nicolo Schira, West Ham have asked to sign Inter Milan midfielder Roberto Gagliardini on loan, and some Hammers fans have taken to Twitter in reaction to the speculation.
The claims have also been backed up by another Italian journalist – Gianluca Di Marzio.
The Hammers are desperate for reinforcements in the middle of the park.
They seem to have missed out on key target Gedson Fernandes to Tottenham (Sky Sports).
West Ham could be set to turn their attention to Inter’s Gagliardini, however.
That’s according to Italian journalist Nicolo Schira, who is respected as a reliable source of news for the Hammers after he broke Sebastien Haller’s big money move to the London Stadium in the summer:

Can’t believe our incompetent owners want to loan every player but Don’t want to buy the player by paying the fees, it’ll break the fans heart if we go down this season they don’t deserve this..

And the Hammers fans are spot on. Why are the owners trying to scrimp and scrape yet again? Gagliardini isn’t the most technically gifted player, but he possesses all of the attributes that West Ham currently lack in midfield.
Sempre Inter claims that the Italian could be available for just £17 million. In this day and age, that represents excellent value, and West Ham should just pay up.
Gagliardini could be the difference between relegation and survival, so £17 million could end up being a very small price to pay.
