West Ham ace Robert Snodgrass shared his affection for Aston Villa today, when speaking exclusively to the club’s official website.
The Scotland international spent the 2017/18 campaign on loan with Villa, and he was a real success in the west Midlands.
Snodgrass racked up eight goals and 13 assists in 43 appearances in all competitions for the Villans, before returning to West Ham in the summer of 2018.
Snodgrass hasn’t quite produced that kind of form since he returned to the London Stadium, however. Although he does remain an important part of Manuel Pellegrini’s plans, having recently signed a new deal with the Hammers.
The Scot is will be hoping to play some kind of a part against Villa on Monday night.
And he told West Ham’s official website just how fond he is of Dean Smith’s side:
“It was unbelievable [playing in the Play-Off final]. I remember that day. It’s probably the most emotion you could ever feel in football. I watched their second Play-Off final in May with my whole family and we were cheering when they scored and when they won it. To see the smiles on all the Villa lads’ faces, I couldn’t have been happier.”
West Ham fans will be hoping that Snodgrass puts sentiment aside on Monday night. He is as professional as they come, and he will undoubtedly be focused on helping the Hammers beat his former side.
A win for the east London outfit could see them jump inside the top four. They will have to be on their very best form against Dean Smith’s side if they are to do just that, however.
