When speaking exclusively to the club’s official website, West Ham ace Ryan Fredericks talked about Declan Rice’s bromance with England teammate Mason Mount, joking that he will have words with the 20-year-old when he returns to training.
Fredericks and Rice have forged a great friendship since the start of last season. And the England international admitted in April that the Hammers right-back is his best friend at the club, when speaking to Stadium Astro:
“At West Ham it’s probably Ryan Fredericks, that’s my boy.”
Over the course of the last week, however, Rice has been telling everyone just how close he is to Chelsea ace Mount (The Telegraph).
And Fredericks joked that he will be pulling his teammate aside when the pair link up again after the international break.
He told West Ham’s official website:
“I’ve seen all the interviews Dec has been giving about being best friends with Mason Mount and I’ll be pulling him up on that when he comes running back to me! I’ll be giving him the cold shoulder! I’ll be having strong words!”
Now, Fredericks was obviously joking, and that in itself is an example of the great atmosphere currently at West Ham.
There is a genuine feel-good factor amongst the players emanating from the London Stadium.
And that should stand the Hammers in great stead this season, as they look to finish inside the Europa League spots come May.
