West Ham winger Michail Antonio suffered a severe hamstring injury when playing against Newport County in the Carabao Cup two weeks ago.
The 29-year-old will now be out for 4-5 months, according to Claret and Hugh, after scans revealed that he sustained a grade 3 hamstring tear.
He has proven to be a vital player for the east London outfit over the past few years. And the Hammers ace will surely be devastated.
Antonio began the 2019/20 campaign in fine form for West Ham, and he seemed to be on course to be a key member for Manuel Pellegrini’s side this season.
The former Nottingham Forest ace’s game is built around power and explosive pace, so he will be hoping that he can return back to his full ability when he comes back from injury.
He will take confidence from the fact that he has always bounced back from injuries before, however.
And Antonio posted an Instagram message last night, highlighting is determination to return from injury as quick as possible:
Antonio is obviously focused. And the sooner he can return to action, the better shape West Ham will be in as a team.
One thing’s for certain – his mental strength cannot be called into question.
