West Ham starlet Ben Johnson spoke exclusively to the club’s official website, after making his return for the under-23’s against Aston Villa last night, and suggested that he is delighted to be back and available for selection.
The 19-year-old has been unavailable for selection since September due to injury.
And with Pablo Zabaleta failing to provide adequate cover for Ryan Fredericks, Johnson’s return to fitness will be a real boost for Manuel Pellegrini.
The Waltham Forest born teenager has shown real promise since making his debut for West Ham away at Manchester City last season.
And he will surely go on to become a first team regular for the Hammers.
Johnson spoke exclusively to WHUFC.com, and shared his delight after returning to action last night:
“It was a great feeling, a fantastic feeling just to be out there and playing again. I feel more like a footballer again. I just want to kick on now, get more minutes under my belt, keep enjoying the game and relishing training. It feels like the sky’s the limit.”
Johnson will not expect to play regularly for the first-team this season. He will be desperate to prove to Manuel Pellegrini that he has what it takes at the very highest level, however.
The 19-year-old is a real talent, and the West Ham fans will be hoping that he is given an opportunity to shine this term.
Johnson is destined for the very top. This season might just be too soon for him to have his breakout year, however.
