When speaking to Czech media outlet Ruik, Slavia Prague’s ‘team leader’ Stanislav Vlcek has confirmed that Tomas Soucek’s loan move to West Ham will ‘automatically’ become a permanent one if the east London outfit avoid relegation this season.

According to a report from the Guardian, the Hammers paid a £3.5 million loan fee for the 24-year-old. And have an option to buy the midfielder for a further £13.5 million in the summer.

Stanislav Vlcek told Ruik that Soucek’s loan move to West Ham from Slavia Prague will automatically become a permanent one, however, should the Hammers avoid relegation this season:

“The first task is staying up. West Ham have a very tough schedule. We hope that West Ham will stay up because of Tomas. If they do, Tomas’s loan would automatically turn into a transfer. In the event West Ham go down, Tomas would return to Slavia and his future would then be discussed. As far as I know from the boys, Tomas is excited about the new gig in terms of the fans and the facilities. I hope he stays up and builds a strong position at West Ham like he did at Slavia.”

The Czech Republic international has only made one appearance for West Ham thus far. And he impressed on his debut against Brighton.

Against the Seagulls, Soucek won three aerial duals, had two shots, made one key pass, made five tackles, three clearances and three interceptions (Who Scored).

The Hammers were crying out for a physical presence in the middle of the park. And it now seems that they have exactly that with the 6ft 4in in Czech ace.

David Moyes will be hoping that Soucek can make the difference for his team between now and the end of the season.

West Ham have some incredibly difficult games on the horizon. And they need the dynamic midfielder to hit the ground running.
