According to an exclusive report from TEAMtalk, West Ham are interested in signing Liverpool centre-back Dejan Lovren, but could face competition from Tottenham, Arsenal for the Croatian.
The Hammers will undoubtedly be looking to bolster their central defensive ranks in the summer.
Angelo Ogbonna will be 32 in May whilst Winston Reid’s future is far from certain. And Issa Diop has been linked with a big-money switch to Arsenal (The Mirror).
And TEAMtalk claims that West Ham could move for Liverpool’s Dejan Lovren, although Tottenham and Arsenal are also interested.
In 161 Premier League appearances for Liverpool and Southampton, the 57-capped Croatia international has racked up 243 tackles, with an incredibly impressive success rate of 71% (premierleague.com).
He has also recorded 273 interceptions, 1,009 clearances and 713 ball recoveries. Lovren has won 920 out his 1,426 individual duals and 582 of his 871 aerial battles (premierleague.com).
The Reds defender could be available for just £13.5 million, according to Italian media outlet Tutto Mercato Web.
The 30-year-old is far from top-drawer. But he has enough about him to add some solidarity and experience to West Ham’s back-line.
The capped 57-capped Croatia international is a decent defender. He has received plenty of criticism since joining Liverpool from Southampton for around £20 million in the summer of 2014 (BBC), however.
Lovren would be a solid addition for West Ham though, especially if he was given regular first-team football. But the Hammers will have their work cut-out with the likes of Tottenham and Arsenal also in the race to sign the centre-back.
