According to a report from Claret and Hugh, West Ham are now willing to sell Chelsea-linked Declan Rice in the summer, but for no less than £80 million.
The 21-year-old has been linked with a big-money move back to Chelsea this week (Sky Sports).
The seven-capped England international has been absolutely outstanding for West Ham since the start of the 2018/19 season.
And losing him doesn’t bear thinking about for Hammers fans.
Claret and Hugh claims that Rice could be moved on this summer, however, but for no less than £80 million – a £10 million hike on his asking price last summer.
Rice has made 100 appearances for the Hammers, racking up two goals and three assists in the process (Transfermarkt).
But it is his work at the other end of the pitch that has been most impressive.
In 90 Premier League appearances for West Ham, the seven-capped England international has racked up 221 tackles, 140 interceptions, 165 clearances and 610 ball recoveries (premierleague.com).
He has won 57% of his individual duals and 54% of his aerial battles (premierleague.com).
Losing Rice would be a massive blow for West Ham. Especially if he was sold to bitter London rivals Chelsea.
If the Hammers are presented with an offer worth around £80 million, it will be incredibly hard to turn down.
West Ham fans will not want to see Rice leave. That’s for sure. But the chance of challenging for the title and/or playing Champions League football might be too hard to resist for the youngster.
