According to a report from the Daily Star, the Hammers want to sign the 6ft 3in centre-back this summer. And the east Londoners might face competition from Tottenham and Leeds for the German ace’s signature.
Moyes might just be looking for central defensive reinforcements this summer.
Angelo Ogbonna is edging ever closer to 32, whilst Winston Reid faces an uncertain future at the London Stadium. Meanwhile, Issa Diop has been heavily linked with an exit from West Ham.
And Freiburg ace Koch would surely be a decent addition for the Hammers this summer.
The 23-year-old has played 24 Bundesliga games for Freiburg this season, scoring one goal int he process (Transfermarkt).
In those 24 outings, the German has averaged 1.2 tackles, 1.3 interceptions and 3.5 clearances. He has also won an average of 3.7 aerial duals per game during that period (Who Scored).
Koch certainly has the potential to go on and be a truly top class centre-back.
He certainly has all of the natural ingredients needed to reach the very top.
£10.7 million for the German might just be an absolute bargain for West Ham. And one that the east London club surely cannot pass up this summer.
Much will depend on whether the Hammers manage to beat Tottenham and Leeds to Koch’s signature, however.
