According to a report from the Daily Mail, Andy Carroll is back training with West Ham.
The 6ft 4in hitman was released by the Hammers last month. It seems as though he is being given a chance by the club to prove his fitness, however.
The Daily Mail does make it clear that the 30-year-old is in no way set to make a return to West Ham though.
It is purely just a gesture of goodwill from the Hammers.
Carroll endured a torrid time with injuries during his seven year spell with West Ham.
He scored just 34 goals in 142 appearances for the east London outfit. And it is very much a case of what might have been.
Perhaps the most telling statistic is the amount of Premier League starts he made for the club – just 84 in seven years.
The former Newcastle and Liverpool hitman always gave 100 per cent for the Hammers. It’s hard to argue that his time in east London was anything other than a huge disappointment, however.
Still though, West Ham fans will surely wish Carroll all the best in his next venture.
Having said that, they will be hoping that him training with the club means nothing more than purely helping him regain his fitness.
Quite where the Englishman will end up playing, however, remains to be seen.
