West Ham United entertain Newcastle United on Saturday at the London Stadium.

West Ham go into the game off the back of a fine performance in an unfortunate 1-0 defeat at Manchester City in midweek.

The Magpies are in search of their third straight win.

The Hammers need a victory to keep their hopes of European football alive.

Pellegrini targets Europe

Manuel Pellegrini has set his sights firmly on seventh spot. That is the highest West Ham or any club outside the current top six can realistically finish this season (Sky Sports).

If one of the Manchester clubs wins the FA Cup that will be enough to qualify for the Europa League.

West Ham beat Fulham 3-1 in their last home game.

And despite the brilliant job Rafa Benitez is doing on a tight budget, the Hammers will be expecting to win.

For West Ham’s second game in 72 hours Pellegrini is set to ring the changes.

In fact he will make four changes to the team which started at City with a fifth change also hanging in the balance.

Pablo Zabaleta in for Ben Johnson

Youngster Johnson had a solid debut. But Pellegrini will bring the experienced Zabaleta back in to cover out of position for the injured Aaron Cresswell.

Mark Noble in for Pedro Obiang

Captain Noble was rested against City and comes back in for this one alongside Declan Rice.

Robert Snodgrass in for Samir Nasri

Snodgrass was another who earned a deserved rest against City and will come back in for Nasri who failed to impress at the Etihad.

Javier Hernandez in for Andy Carroll

Carroll’s time at West Ham is coming to an end. He won’t get the chance to face his old club as Hernandez comes back into the side with Marko Arnautovic recovering from illness.

Possible fifth change: Grady Diangana in for Michail Antonio

Antonio hurt his shoulder against City and is touch and go for the visit of the Magpies. If he is not fit to start Grady Diangana will come into the team.

Predicted West Ham XI to face Newcastle

Fabianski, Fredericks, Diop, Ogbonna, Zabaleta, Rice, Noble, Snodgrass, Anderson, Antonio/Diangana, Hernandez.
