West Ham United fans are panicking over star player Manuel Lanzini.
The Hammers have had to make do without playmaker Lanzini for most of the season after he suffered a serious knee injury in training with Argentina before last summer’s World Cup.
Lanzini recently returned to the West Ham team.
Argentina call too soon?
And he was immediately called up by his national team for games against Venezuela and Morocco.
That already had Hammers supporters nervous given what happened last time he was with Argentina.
Lanzini was pictured in training with the team this week.
But now West Ham fans are panicking.
That’s after former Hammers right back turned Argentina manager Lionel Scaloni failed to name Lanzini in the squad for the 3-1 humbling to Venezuela on Friday night.
Disbelief and panic over Lanzini absence
Supporters took to Twitter to share their disbelief.
And many are concerned their key man may have picked up another injury.
At the time of writing there had been no explanation as to why Lanzini did not feature.
West Ham will be hoping he is being eased back into things carefully following nine months out.
West Ham fans worried over new injury
Indeed the Hammers may even have an agreement in place with Scaloni to that effect.
Given West Ham’s horrendous injury record and history, though, some are naturally fearing the worst case scenario.
Here are a selection of posts from Hammers fans on Twitter.
