Finger nails will be getting chewed tonight as West Ham United fans tune into Leicester City’s clash with Aston Villa.

The Hammers remain outside the bottom three on goal difference after the undeserved 1-0 defeat to Arsenal on Saturday.

West Ham should have won the game comfortably at the Emirates. Gunners boss Mikel Arteta and striker Alexandre Lacazette conceded David Moyes’s side deserved to win.

West Ham full of regret as finishing costs them dear at Arsenal

But wasteful finishing from Michail Antonio and Sebastien Haller meant West Ham failed to pick up what could have been a huge three points in the relegation battle.

Newcastle’s win at Southampton sees them all but safe with nine games to go.

With Norwich looking doomed, it is widely acknowledged to be two from five now to join them in the Championship next season.

Other results went West Ham’s way at the weekend and they remained 16th.

They will drop to 17th, though, if Villa pull off a shock victory away at third-placed Leicester.

Defeat for Villa will keep them in the bottom three facing a tough game against Chelsea next weekend.

They then play the Blues on Saturday before West Ham entertain Wolves on the Sunday.

On paper most would expect Leicester to win this one comfortably.

But Villa looked good in the League Cup final against Manchester City and Leicester have been indifferent of late.

All eyes on the King Power as West Ham fans hope for Foxes win

Villa recently beat the Foxes in the League Cup semi-finals.

And Brendan Rodgers’s side have not won a league game since beating West Ham 4-1 back in January.

The Hammers need a favour from the Foxes tonight.

West Ham’s worried legion of supporters and everyone connected with the East Londoners will certainly be cheering on Jamie Vardy and co in the live Monday Night Football match.
