Mark Lawrenson backed West Ham to beat Newcastle tomorrow, when writing his regular prediction column for BBC Sport, suggesting that the Toon will come to the London Stadium and park the bus.

The Hammers are currently in the midst of a really poor run of form.

Manuel Pellegrini’s side have taken just two points from their last four Premier League games – a run that has seen them slump down to 10th in the table.

Newcastle aren’t exactly flying high either, however.

Steve Bruce’s side are hovering just outside the relegation zone. And West Ham should beat the Magpies if they play to their full potential.

Lawrenson told BBC Sport how the visitors will be playing for a draw at the London Stadium tomorrow:

“But while the Hammers are still horribly inconsistent, at least we know what to expect from Newcastle – they will come to London Stadium and try to park the bus. Steve Bruce’s side cannot really do anything else, because they offer such little threat going forward – which is why I am backing West Ham, despite their poor form.”

Lawro’s prediction: 2-1

West Ham absolutely must beat Newcastle, if they are to keep their top six hopes alive.

The Magpies, meanwhile, will be desperate not to lose. They have been good away from home this season, however, and they will undoubtedly make things difficult for the Hammers.
