Hammers insider chooses worst West Ham since 1990

With the football world in limbo and a dearth of content or talking points to debate as a result, some people have been keeping themselves busy choosing their best and worst XIs.

And ExWHUemployee is no different.

Ex teamed up with his West Ham Way Podcast co-host Dave Walker to select a Worst West Ham XI since 1990.

And while some supporters disagreed with a couple of picks, we think he has done a pretty fine job.

It says a lot about West Ham’s plight this season that one of the players featured has represented the East Londoners during the current campaign. Step forward the hapless Roberto.

One of them also played in an FA Cup final.

The team is managed by Glenn Roeder, who took West Ham down on a record 42 points back in 2003 despite the best efforts of temporary boss Trevor Brooking.

In total the players making up ExWHUemployee’s worst West Ham XI since 1990 made 143 appearances.

And it has a pathetic return of just one goal, Edouard Cisse’s striker against London rivals Charlton in January 2003.

143 appearances, one goal and plenty of misery

“Here is the team myself and @ExWHUemployee put forward as the worst since 1990 on the podcast last night,” Walker revealed on Twitter.

“Do you agree? Or would you make changes?”

So here is the team in full:

Roberto, Lionel Scaloni, Emanuel Pogatetz, Gary Breen, Wayne Quinn, Gokhan Tore, Nigel Quashie, Edouard Cisse, Savio Nsereko, Mido, Benni McCarthy. Manager: Roeder.
