West Ham United fans were excited about the emergence of young striker Xande Silva.
The Hammers are famed for their academy.
And Manuel Pellegrini has been true to the club’s roots this season.
The Chilean has built the team around young stars like Declan Rice and Issa Diop.

And he has also blooded other promising talents such as Grady Diangana, Conor Coventry, Ben Johnson and Xande Silva.
One emerging starlet fans were particularly excited about was Portuguese striker Silva.
The 21-year-old was given his head against Burnley and Birmingham where he impressed.
But he has barely been seen since despite Marko Arnautovic and Lucas Perez being out of favour and Andy Carroll’s latest injury.
And with the Hammers struggling to get goals from their strikers of late it has prompted supporters to question Silva’s whereabouts.
Hammers insider ExWHUEmployee has moved to clarify the situation surrounding Silva, though, confirming the reason he has been absent from the West Ham fold.

It is another injury to add to West Ham’s Premier League worst list this season.
Silva joins Andriy Yarmolenko, Carlos Sanchez, Jack Wilshere, Carroll and Winston Reid on the sidelines.
