ExWHUemployee has suggested that West Ham may not be looking to sign a right-back now this month because of Ryan Fredericks being ahead of schedule in his recovery from injury.

The 26-year-old suffered a serious hamstring injury at the beginning of the month against Gillingham in the FA Cup.

And he was subsequently ruled out for 6-7 weeks.

West Ham insider Ex claimed yesterday that the former Fulham man is ahead of schedule, however:

And the Hammers ITK suggested that because of that, a the signing of a new right-back may not now be a priority:

West Ham still need a top-class right-back

Just because Fredericks is closing in on a return to full fitness, it doesn’t mean that the Hammers don’t need to sign another right-sided full-back.

Pablo Zabaleta is leaving in the summer, and in truth, the jury is still out on Fredericks.

The 26-year-old desperately needs more competition. And if West Ham fails to sign another right-back this month, he will have only Zabaleta to compete with.

It just goes to show the board’s complete lack of foresight, ambition and vision for the future.

And not signing another right-back this month could be a big mistake from West Ham.
