Reliable Hammers insider ExWHUemployee has claimed that West Ham have watched Rangers’ on-loan ace Ianis Hagi.

The 21-year-old joined the Glasgow giants on loan from Genk in January, and he has really impressed as Ibrox so far.

The attacking midfielder, who can also play on either wing, has racked up three goals and one assist in six games for Steven Gerrard’s side.

Hagi, the son of Romanian legend Gheorghe, seems like a real talent. Rangers have an exclusive option to buy the youngster, according to the club’s official website. So if he continues to impress, he will surely join the Gers on a permanent basis in the summer.

Even so, ExWHUemployee has claimed on Twitter that West Ham have scouted the 21-year-old before:

Hagi is exactly the type of young talent the Hammers should be recruiting. It seems as though the Romanian has passed them by, however, what with Rangers’ option to buy the youngster already in place.

West Ham need to seriously address their approach to recruitment in the summer. Irrespective of what division they are in.

And the more success that Hagi has at Ibrox, the more the Hammers’ will be seen to have missed out.
