West Ham United fans are waking up pinching themselves every morning this summer after unprecedented transfer spending.
Hammers co-owners David Sullivan and David Gold finally look to be making good on promises to splash the cash ever since they moved from Upton Park to the London Stadium.
The co-owners have backed new manager Manuel Pellegrini – himself an impressive capture – to the tune of more than £90 million already this summer.
That included the record £40 million signing of Brazilian star Felipe Anderson, one of seven transfers West Ham have completed so far.
The Hammers have also been linked with further additions, much to the disbelief – and relief – of the club’s fans.
West Ham fans are famed for their wit and it seems that trait stretches to former players, too.
That is because ex-Hammers striker Dean Ashton had fans in stitches with a comment on the club’s transfer business on talkSPORT that would surely even have had David Sullivan laughing.
When discussing West Ham’s transfer business on talkSPORT Ashton said: “It is as if David Sullivan has dropped his wallet and a West Ham fan has picked it up.”
Deano, we salute you.
