West Ham United star Issa Diop will not get a late call-up to the France squad this week after the withdrawal of Samuel Umtiti.
The Telegraph claimed in the summer that Diop was on the verge of a first call-up to the senior France side.
When Manchester City star Aymeric Laporte was injured last weekend it looked like Diop would be in line for a call from Les Bleus boss Didier Deschamps.
Diop overlooked again
But Barcelona outcast Samuel Umtiti was called up instead. That’s despite playing just 13 games last season and being left out in the cold this term even though he is fully fit.
So when he too withdrew from the squad through injury, it surely paved the way for West Ham’s £75million rated centre back?
According to Get French Foorball News, Umtiti withdrew from the France squad with a swollen right foot.
Double injury fails to open the door
But the outlet also confirmed nobody will be called up to replace him ahead of Tuesday’s Euro 2020 qualifier against Andorra.

Despite the snub this time around Diop – and West Ham fans who want to see their star rewarded for his excellent club form – should not lose heart.
Window of opportunity for Hammer
Laporte’s unfortunate injury and Umtiti’s lack of football at Barca will give the Hammer plenty of time to impress Deschamps over the next few months.
That can only be good for West Ham.
With the carrot of playing for his national team and potentially at next summer’s Euro 2020, Diop will be even more motivated than usual.
