Aston Villa ace Jack Grealish shared how West Ham star Declan Rice told him that they should swap roles midway through the game last night, when speaking during Sky Sports’ broadcast of Monday Night Football (16/09/2019).

The Villans were held to a 0-0 draw by the Hammers, despite the fact that the hosts were reduced to 10 men after 67 minutes.

Arthur Masuaku was given his marching orders after receiving a second yellow card, but Villa never really made their numerical advantage count.

West Ham actually looked the like the better side in final 30 minutes.

One of their chances came when Declan Rice thundered a long-range shot towards Villa’s goal.

Grealish got in the way, however, with a fantastic block.

And the Villa midfielder told reporters what the Hammers ace said to him after he got in the way of his goal-bound effort:

“Dec said on the pitch that ‘we should swap roles, it should be me shooting and him blocking. But it’s what I have to do now when I am playing central midfield.”

Both Grealish and Rice could very well go on to form a partnership for England over the next decade or so.

The Villa and West Ham stars are both very talented. Both very different. And judging by Grealish’s comments, they share an amicable relationship.

More importantly, however, both have incredibly exciting futures ahead of them.
