According to the latest predictions made by Opta, West Ham will finish the season comfortably in 15th spot.
The Hammers are currently sitting in 16th spot in the table. They are level on points with 18th placed Bournemouth and 17th placed Watford, and just two points clear of 19th placed Aston Villa having played a game more than Dean Smith’s side.
West Ham have experienced an incredibly difficult campaign thus far. The quality of football hasn’t been great. And the effort and commitment of the players has also been called into question on numerous occasions.
David Moyes’s men have some very tricky games remaining in the Premier League too. The Hammers have to face Wolves, Tottenham and Chelsea in their next three games.
West Ham are far from safe from the threat of relegation. But Opta’s latest set of predictions using years of data has the east London outfit avoiding the drop comfortably:
Hammers fans would obviously be delighted with that outcome.
There is still a lot of hard work to be done, however. Hopefully the UK can help slow the spread of the recent pandemic and Premier League football will return as soon as possible.
At the same time, however, a cancelled season would probably be greeted with cheer in east London as well.
