Andriy Yarmolenko has thanked Hammers fans for their unwavering support during his injury lay off. Speaking to the official West Ham website, the Ukrainian expressed his gratitude to the claret and blue faithful.
The former Borussia Dortmund man has been struck down by an achilles injury since October and it is unclear whether or not he will make another appearance this season. His absence has been a huge blow for West Ham and is one of the many injuries Manuel Pellegrini has had to deal with this season.
His excellent performance against Everton in which he scored twice and against Manchester United when he also scored, made Hammers fans sit up and take notice. His quality left foot and combination of aerial and technical ability make him an exciting attacking option.
Yarmolenko was full of praise for the fans in his comments. He said: “I’ve had so many positive messages from West Ham fans. For me it really helps.”
It goes to show that despite only making a few appearances for the east London club so far, he has made a positive impact on the fan base.
The number 20 went on to say that: “When I come to the matches you can really feel the noise from the fans getting behind the team. I can’t wait to be back and to feel this again.”
Once again this is a case of new signings expressing praise for the London Stadium. Some West Ham fans haven’t felt that connection with the ground but the players evidently feel that it is a major factor for them.
The winger also went on to show his thanks to the club’s medical staff.
“My family, my teammates and the staff because here in West Ham we are one big family and it’s really helped me.”
