Aaron Cresswell spoke to the club’s official website after penning a new deal with West Ham, and offered an insight into the current atmosphere amongst the players at the London Stadium.
The Hammers have made a decent start to their Premier League campaign, and they currently sit in eighth spot in the table, four points adrift of second.
Manuel Pellegrini’s men seem to be a really unified outfit this season. Getting rid of Marko Arnautovic in the summer would certainly have improved the morale amongst the rest of the squad.
Many are tipping West Ham to make a strong push for the top six this season. And if Pellegrini’s men find a bit more consistency, they have every chance of doing just that.
Cresswell spoke exclusively to the club’s official website, and shared just how closely-knit the current group of players are:
“We’ve got a fantastic changing room. Everyone gets on. There are no egos and everyone is together. If you want to push on and kick on in the league, then you need that team spirit and togetherness. I think we’ve certainly got that. We’re all on the same page – the owners, the board, the coaching team, the players and the fans. We’re all pushing in the right direction and, if we can keep doing that, we’ll be okay.”
Cresswell’s comments will be music to Hammers fans’ ears. When Arnautovic was as the club, there was clearly ill feeling aimed at the Austrian from the other players. The striker did hand in a transfer request on two occasions after all.
West Ham return to action on October 19th when they travel to Goodison Park to take on Everton.
And having lost last time out to Crystal Palace, the Hammers will be desperate to return to winning ways against an under-pressure Toffees side.
