West Ham only signed Mipe Odubeko in October but he is wasting no time at his new club.
Odubeko scored a hat-trick against Southampton on the weekend for the U18s. It was his fourth game for West Ham at U18 level and he took his tally to four goals.
The 17-year-old joined from Manchester United and he is a very highly-rated prospect. He has proven his goalscoring credentials with a treble at the weekend against Southampton’s youngsters.
West Ham travelled down to the south coast for this U18 Premier League game and won 5-0. Odubeko scored early in both halves and then again in the 84th minute with Kamarai Simon-Swyer and Kai Corbett also on the scoresheet.
The future is bright at West Ham
While West Ham’s first-team struggles for strikers, the academy is not short of options. There are a host of exciting young forwards hoping to become Hammers first-teamers in the near future.
Odubeko is one of those. His next challenge will be to break into the U23 team and then show why he should be competing at a higher level. The Republic of Ireland U17 starlet will be hoping to follow in Amadou Diallo’s footsteps.
Diallo, 16, scored for the U23s last week and he is considered a top talent for the future. Meanwhile, Anthony Scully is firing in the goals for the U23s and Veron Parkes has been prolific for the U18s.
